🚢 Mazagon Dock & Swan Defence Join Forces for Indian Navy’s LPDs – A Strategic PPP Move

- Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) and Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) signed a Teaming Agreement (TA) for designing and constructing Landing Platform Docks (LPDs).

- The agreement was signed during India Maritime Week 2025 (IMW 2025) in Mumbai.

- MDL is a Navratna company under the Ministry of Defence, while SDHI is India's largest shipbuilding and heavy fabrication company.

- The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) recently approved the acquisition of LPDs, crucial for power projection, amphibious operations, and disaster relief missions.

- MDL brings expertise in ship design, project management, and system integration; SDHI contributes world-class shipbuilding infrastructure.

- The partnership aims to optimize build periods, enhance quality, and improve cost efficiency for these complex platforms.

- This is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, blending private-sector efficiency with public-sector credibility.
